Garibaldi July 28, 29 and 30th

Went down Thursday night, fished with my friend Rich on Friday, we fished in about 150’ of water west of Twin Rocks. 23’ on the line counter, with 12 oz of lead. Spinfish, double trouble and lemon head glow, were quite successful. We had our four hatchery coho early, and were back to the dock before noon, we released four or five native fish, and missed about four or five more takedowns.

Repeated the process on Saturday, with another friend, David. We had our four hatchery coho about 12:30 p.m. We released a few natives, same techniques as Friday. On Sunday, I fished with Jim in his Arima, we were done very early, caught five coho, of which four were hatchery. We finished about 7:30 a.m. and were back to the docks by 8:00 a.m.

Interesting that the ocean was colder, about 52 to 55 degrees in about 150’ of water than out at 240’ where it was close to 60 degrees. I think finding the cooler water put us on more active fish. Fish were still caught in the warmer water, but I do think the cooler water improves the prospects.
