Astoria Oregon: Lewis and Clark Golf and RV Park

Astoria Oregon: Lewis and Clark Golf and RV Park

Goal of the trip was the Clapsop County Fair and the Midland Concert. Friends of ours planned the trip so easy and fun on our part., thanks John!

The Fair and Concert were quite different than the Oregon State fair, but a nice atmosphere and even with the large crowds expected (for the area) traffic was extremely minimal. Rained in the morning of the concert but by concert time it was a beautiful afternoon to set up the lawn chairs and listen to some good music.

We stayed at the Lewis and Clark Golf and RV Park. It was a nice, clean, well run park. Probably the nicest restroom/shower facility we have seen to date in our travels. Downside is there is only one shower room and one restroom on site. I assume this is due to the fact that they cater to the larger rigs and for us in a small 21’ of space nice to have a larger shower with more hot water at the RV sites than in our trailer.

While in the area we visited the Astoria column. Was surprised little was posted about the the history and restoration of the column. Lots of info on the donors, but not much on how it was constructed, restored. Felt like I was a true older person looking for plaques and info on the site we were seeing instead of running the steps to the top., I took a slow walk up.
