Fishing Report: Garibaldi bottom fishing
Garibaldi bottom fishing report 03-07- 2018
Three of us, Glen, Jeff Schwab and John Coburn, went to Garibaldi today, and headed south towards Three Arches, for bottom fish, we left Portland at 5:00 a.m. We were targeting ling cod, using larger presentations than we would for sea bass. Jeff caught the first fish, a beautiful 17.5 pound ling cod. We caught our limit, six total, for three anglers, and released a few that were legal but small, before deciding to keep number six, and heading back to the ramp. Perhaps a dozen other boats out there, fishing was not red hot, but was consistent. We descended a few orange fish at depth, and kept three nice black rock fish. The wind was forecast to be fairly calm, but it was strong enough early to produce white caps, and require the use of our kicker motor to slow our drifts. I do love the beauty of the coast, and the shoreline. Oh yeah, and the fresh ling cod for dinner last night was awesome too.
