Fishing Report: Columbia River Oct 24th

Although the fishing is slowing down, there are still some chinook making their way up towards Bonneville Dam. On Saturday, I met my friend Todd at the Camas/Washougal boat ramp and we fished upriver towards Rooster Rock State Park. We fished pro trolls and super baits, and went 1 for 5. One other fish was on for a short while before popping off, probably a good sized fish, based on the amount of line that peeled off the reel, before Todd was able to get the rod out of the holder. The other three were not as viscous, and could have been jacks, chinook under 24” or coho under 16”. We fished until about 1:00 p.m. and called it a day.

Not many boats out on the river, it was windy and somewhat chilly. The counts over the dam have slowed to only a couple of hundred per day. Almost time to put away the salmon gear, until spring chinook season next spring.
