Fishing Report: Garibaldi Jun 26th, and 27th...Reality check
Towed the boat down on Thursday June 25th, 2020. Ocean forecast for Friday, Saturday, Sunday did not look promising. Awoke Friday morning to an unexpected unrestricted bar. Headed down to Three Arches for bottom fish/ling cod in my boat with my friend Jim. Fished for an hour or so, then the wind kicked up. With no fish, I made the decision to head back to the docks. It was a rough ride in my 20’ Weldcraft aluminum boat, I may need to invest in some air ride seats. I had dropped 3 crab pots on the way, we managed 3 nice full dungeness crab out of the pots.
On Saturday, we awoke to another unrestricted bar, we decided to try for some salmon, hathery coho or chinook, 2 salmon per day. We fished triangle flashers and cut plug green label herring from about 150’ to 200’ between Twin Rocks and the North Jetty. Jim had one good takedown, fought the fish for a few seconds, then nothing. No other action, we fished for about 5 hours before calling it a day.
So, no fish, very few crab, this happens from time to time, I think it makes the successful trips that much more enjoyable. Now, time to plan next weekend’s adventures. It should be good, my friend Todd is going to tow his 19’ Arima down. My boat will stay in the garage as I pull my travel trailer out until the middle of August, then I will be back!
