Coho ocean opener June 15th
Target: Salmon (coho)
Catch: Nothing
Fishermen Glen and Chris
Left dock at 7:00 a.m. , returned to dock 7:30 a.m.
Rigging: Triangle flashers and double trouble spinfish, size 3.0
Conditions: Too rough for comfort .
We left the docks about 7:00 a.m. passed the jetty tips, and turned around back to the dock about 7:30 a.m. It was very rough although the bar was not restricted. We saw one other boat on the ocean, a guide boat, who passed us as we were on our way back in. I am sure he decided it was not worth it, just as we did.
The coho “opener” will have to wait until Wednesday, June 19th for me. I have heard that there are coho aroung, however they are on the smaller size at this time, about four to five pounds. They will start putting on weight fairly quickly now.
