MEDFORD — The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife plans to use an electronic licensing system that will allow hunters and anglers to buy licenses and tags online.

Salmonid angling on the Columbia River is currently open for Chinook jacks and steelhead from the Astoria-Megler Bridge upstream to Bonneville Dam. Also, adult summer Chinook may be kept until July 4.
ODFW Notice: Beginning July 1, 2018, the general marine fish bag limit will decrease to 4 fish per angler per day.

The summer Chinook season starts on June 22, and water conditions are looking favorable for a fair run through the 4th of July. Passage numbers at Bonneville are already climbing. Summer Chinook commonly run larger than their spring cousins, and action should be fair from Longview to Bonneville Dam using plugs and small spinners either on anchor or trolling.
