Fishing Report: Garibaldi, day two...Sunday, Jul 9th
I met Pat Jones from Portland Marine Electronics, https://www.pdxmarine.com, at the marina at 5:30 a.m. This was easy for me as I spent the night at the Harborview Inn. We dropped three crab pots and headed to Three Arches. Almost immediately Pat hooked a nice ling cod, and we landed it. About two minutes later, he hooked a nice sea bass, we landed that also. Fishing slowed quickly as the morning progressed. We released a few yellow eye, Pat did end up catching two ling cod, a black sea bass a canary and some yellow eye. I must have been too tired from Saturday, because all the fish I managed had to be released, lol. Picked up our pots, 9 keeper crab, a lot of females, and headed back to the marina. Had Kelly "the Blade" fillet the fish, and headed back to Portland. Got home about 3:00 p.m. to flush motors and wash boat. Great weekend, good friends, the fishing was only fair, but the beauty of the coast never gets old. We also saw a whale right off the entrance to Garibaldi on the way in, that was really cool.
Saturday evening, I met two veterans (Les Logsdon and his friend) they were eating some of their crab catch for the day. They suggested soaking the chicken parts in Roe to attract more Crab to the traps. Its a great tip I had not heard before. Thanks guys it was great chatting with you, excellent tip.
I bought my current boat from Pat, and appreciated his no pressure, let's get the right boat for you approach. I have zero regrets about the purchase, the boat fits my needs 100%, and it fits in my garage, this was the one point that was not open to negotiation with my wife.
If you are considering purchasing a new or used boat I would definitely recommend contacting Pat, tell him FishnSleep sent you!
