Fishing Report: Fishing out of Astoria Aug 3rd

Went to Astoria, (Hammond Boat Launch), on Friday the 3rd with my  friend Brian.      The launch  was not very crowded, and plenty of parking at 5:30 a.m.  The ocean was rougher than forecast.  We started fishing out by the CR Buoy with no luck.  Then we moved to the north, off the north jetty, and tried again, no luck.  Moved a third time, off of the lighthouse, north of entrance to CR, still no luck.  We were using both fresh anchovies and cut plug herring.  Moved one more time, back south, west of north jetty, still no luck.  We did have a few light biters, and Brian did lose a fish off the lighthouse.  The coast guard said bar restricted to 16' and under, so we called it a day.  No fish, and a somewhat rough ocean.  A for effort, zero for success, that's fishing.  We did see several other fish caught, by boats in all locations, we just had one of those days.
