Fishing Report: Sep 19-21st Garibaldi
Back to Garibaldi Friday evening, with boat in tow. Two weeks later, my back still not 100%, but good enough to fish. Got up Saturday morning, and fished with my wife around the jetty tips. We started to the south, then fished a little north, no action at all, except for a lot of weeds, and jelly fish. The slimy kind of weeds and jellyfish, that are a chore to clean off. Packed it in about noon to relax at the travel trailer.
On Saturday, my friends Jeff and Inna (aka Team Schwab) came down, and with a very nice ocean, we made the trek north to Cannon Beach, for bottom fishing. We managed to get all six of our lings, and about 16 bottom fish. It is a long ride to Cannon Beach, but at times it is worth the effort and expense. We released a few small lings, and other bottom fish. The ride back was easy, and we were relaxing and filleting early in the afternoon.
On Monday went fishing outside around the tip of the south jetty, with my friend Jim, I managed to loose two salmon, but am sure they were both coho, since I never got to see them! Makes you wonder what you are doing wrong, too much drag, too little, picked up the rod too quick, not quick enough, hooks too big, hooks too small, etc. Hope my “losing” streak is at or near an end so I can stop debating myself. Saw some fish caught Monday morning, but I would consider it a “hot” bite. Ramp was crowded all weekend, a lot of angler effort.
Now, waiting for next weekend, and hoping the ocean calms down.
Clean cut toi the bone on the fish using the electric bubba blade! Unintended catch, snap pic and release!
