Fishing Report: Sept 26th Columbia River

One of my favorite ways to target salmon in the river is with pro trolls and spinners. I went fishing with Todd and his two sons Saturday, and we had a blast. We were fishing in the Columbia river in the Camas area. We were using 3.5 spinners and silver pro trolls. 12 to 16 ounces of weight depending on the depth. We kept 2 adult chinook and 2 jacks, smaller than 24”. My favorite part of this type of fishing is the takedown. You troll pretty fast with this setup, and when a fish strikes, it is violent. the rod bouncing up and down in the rod holder, and line peeling off the reel, is sure to get your blood flowing. It appears the counts over Bonneville are above expected returns, this should bode well for the future.
