Garibaldi windy Jul 24th and 25th, 2021
Went to Garibaldi solo on Friday after work. Set the alarm for 4:00 a.m. to launch the boat. Crossed the bar about 5:30, made it to about 130’ deep then turned around. It was very very windy, huge wind waves, and a relentless wind, it was kind of weird to see a “parade” of boats heading out to the ocean, and at the same time a parade of boats heading back in. It was too much, I was back in bed by 7:00 a.m. Did not even attempt to fish Sunday, and came back to Portland early. On Saturday July 31, ocean was reported to be 2 to 4’ choppy swells, my wife and I opted for the beach, and headed back to Portland Saturday night.
I had two friends fishing out of the Columbia August 1st, and they sent me photos of some nice coho they caught From what I hear, the fishing is excellent out of the Columbia right now. I am hoping next weekend provides more favorable conditions.
