Garibaldi bottom fish and crab Oct 6th and 7th
Met my friend troy at 6:45 a.m. and dropped 3 pots north of the entrance in about 50’ of water, halfway to Twin Rocks. Had intentions of going north to Cannon Beach, but within a mile or two, encountered large wind waves, 2’ to 4’. Turned around and fished off the north jetty. Troy got one ling cod, but the bite was very slow. The ocean looked calmer to the south, but within a mile or two, we encountered the same wind waves we found to the north. Back to fishing off the north jetty. Long story short, we picked up our crab pots, got our limits, 12 crab each, and called it a day, back to the dock early, around 11:00 a.m.
Saturday met my friend Jim, we took his Arima south to Cape Lookout area. Got our limit of bottomfish, then decided to go to an offshore ling cod spot Jim knew., about 12 miles out, in about 350’ of water. We got our ling cod, picked up our pots, and headed in about 12:00 p.m. The wind was already picking up, but the morning was very nice.
