Fishing Report: Very windy May 29th
Friday was very very windy in Garibaldi, the bar was closed to all recreational boats. Since we towed the boat down Thursday evening, decided to try some crabbing in the bay. Conducted an experiment, used a product called The Crustacean Sensation, in one pot, had just this product, in another this product and fish carcasses in the bait bag, the third had just fish carcasses. Dropped the 3 pots in crab harbor area. Pulled them twice, waiting about 45 minutes between pulling them. Had several small crabs, females, and a couple of red rock, all released. No one combination outperformed the other. The crabbing was very poor, so will need to conduct this experiment again. If you are tired of the mess and process of freezing/thawing crab bait, and the clean up required, you should try this product! Not one keeper crab, somewhat disappointing, but still great to get in the fresh air, my wife did an excellent job driving the boat while I pulled the pots, I was impressed. Today, Saturday, is very windy again, but tomorrow the ocean is looking decent.
Hoping to fish tomorrow before heading back to Portland, perhaps out to Three Arches, or maybe a little offshore in sure of some big ling cod.
