Fishing Report: Sep 27th success!

With an unrestricted bar, my friends Jim, John, and I headed out to the ocean, fishing south of the jetty tips. We were using cut plug green label herring and triangle flashers, I was using one of my favorites, a Short Bus Sweet Abby flasher. This does very well for coho, and also for chinook. There are more color varieties of flashers than flavors of ice cream. Which ones are best is a matter of personal opinion. Everyone has there own go to flasher. pink, chartreuse, orange, blue, etc., they all seem to work at one time or another.

This 17.5 pound chinook was caught using the pictured flasher, with cut plug herring, on a leader about 55” behind the flasher. It is important to get a good spin on the herring, to give it “good action” to convince a fish it should eat it. John had caught a native coho earlier in the day in the bay, which had to be released per regulations. The fishing remains challenging, but a nice sunny day fishing on the ocean in the sun with friends is still a great way to spend a Saturday!
