Last Sunday out of Garibaldi. We got our six ling cod in fairly short order, and released a few orange fish and small lings. Weird thing is, never caught even one black rockfish.
Had to relocate once or twice to find a bite, and marked a few spots on the GPS. It was then only a matter of time before we had our 15 bottom fish and a few ling cod.

It was a good week for bottomfish anglers on both sides of the Oregon-California border until windy weather sent anglers back to shore on Thursday and Friday.
Got to the boat ramp around 5:30 a.m. and headed out into the Multnomah Channel. This is springer fishing, the action is slower than salmon fishing in the ocean.

And while it might not be enough long-term — doing less is not an option for the tribe that views saving the orca and endangered salmon as both a cultural and spiritual obligation. The $750,000 the tribe spends annually to do this work is considered here an investment for future generations.
